BED & BREAKFAST IN OPOUL-PERILLOS

This village, situated on the border between Aude and Pyrénées Orientales, in the southern part of France called "Roussillon", close to the Mediterranean sea, nestles at the foot of Salvaterre castle ruins, and has only 850 inhabitants. (ruins of Salvaterre castle : an ancient stronghold marking and guarding the frontier between Spain and France, listed in 1987, probably built during the 12th century and finally abandoned and destroyed by order of Cardinal de Richelieu in 1642)
In 1971, the town council of Opoul decided to include the neighbouring abandoned village of Périllos in its area, and so it became Opoul-Périllos.
Although located away from main roads, it's near interesting spots : Perpignan (15 miles), Rivesaltes (8 miles), beaches (15miles).The village, essentially "wine producing", welcomes every year a small number of holiday makers who, charmed by the sight and the serenity of the place, return faithfully year after year.
